Contemporary Art, which hails from Cibubur, the Southern-East part of Jakarta, uses the term "dreamo" to characterize their music. They were founded in 2019 and are made up of four young adults in their early 20’s who detest maturing. Their debut track, "Life Sucks, Good Night" (2019), has a sad-angsty adolescent tone. In their subsequent single, "A Love Song, I Guess?" (2022), they developed their sound by being more reverb-y and chorus-y. Contemporary Art also released an EP titled "Glazed" (2022), which is a manifestation of the passionate life of youth, capturing all its dynamism, accompanied by beautiful chords and a rough yet dreamy guitar tone.
Contemporary Art returns after a three-year hiatus to release a Maxi-Single titled "A Ghost's Bitterness in Its Charming Home." (2025). In this release, Contemporary Art strives for "maximizing-everything" in their music. They experiment with a vastly different approach compared to their previous tracks. This release is influenced by several genres such as shoegaze, post-grunge, nu-metal, and hardcore, drawing inspiration from bands like <a href="spotify:artist:6Ghvu1VvMGScGpOUJBAHNH" data-name="Deftones">Deftones</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6P5ccCJCe8A4s9tDSTNFzF" data-name="Fleshwater">Fleshwater</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4g6ODwOQYRZLsP89kEoBIu" data-name="Narrow Head">Narrow Head</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4G9wSdX0klmoHfjm9i6DLd" data-name="Loathe">Loathe</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:2AOTmilsEJDBEM6SIHFFy6" data-name="Blanket">Blanket</a>.
