Cool Breeze is Charlie Lexton. He spent his formative years listening to punk, funk, reggae and hip hop and in his teens his first band, Down By Law, performed with Big Audio Dynamite. Studying in Bristol from 1986, he began DJing in a burgeoning Bristol scene. In 1990 Charlie recorded under the name Cool Breeze, debuting on a fledgling Hooj Toons with the track “A Cool Breeze”, a big tune at that year's Notting Hill Carnival. In 1991, under the guise of Cool 2, Charlie recorded “Kinda Groovy” an international dance hit, reaching no. 4 in the Gallup UK Dance Chart, selling 20,000 copies prompting Arthur Baker to cover the track in the US. In 1992 Charlie produced the first two Dorado releases; “Monkey Business” and “Ain't No Fun” and also D*Note's critically acclaimed “Scheme Of Things”. Charlie also co-produced the first album on Dorado, D*Note's highly respected 1993 debut “Babel”. With the release of Dorado's “A Compilation 2” Charlie again recorded under the Cool Breeze moniker with the track “Travelogue”. Around the same time he also remixed Run DMC's “Down With The King” for Profile Records. Busy studying, Charlie's next release was “Tik Tok” a track on “A Compilation 3: File Under Dorado”. Around the same time he also worked on the beats of RPM's debut “Food Of My Derhythm” on Mo' Wax. In 1994, Charlie co-produced D*Note's second, Drum and Bass influenced, album “Criminal Justice’ and began work on the Cool Breeze album “Assimilation”.
