Harald Blüchel began his classical piano training at the age of 7.
While studying composition at the Berlin University of the Arts, his enthusiasm for electronic music brought him into the small circle of the emerging Berlin techno scene. With his Cosmic Baby moniker, he became one of their early global stars.
His striking, unmistakable musical signature significantly influenced all types of melodic varieties of techno and still does today.
The albums “Stellar Supreme” (1992) and “Thinking About Myself” (1994) are considered by audiences and critics to be among the visionary milestones of trance.
In collaboration with Paul Schmitz-Moormann under the name Energy 52, the anthem “Café del Mar” was released, which became one of the world's best-known songs of the entire genre.
Cosmic Baby`s presence as a live performer was closely linked to his role as composer and producer: his virtuoso skills on the keyboards and synthesizers combined with a charismatic aura gave him an exceptional position and made him one of the most sought-after headliners in the club, rave and festival scene around the globe.
In 1995 he was named BEST ELECTRONIC DANCE ACT by American magazine “Project X”.
Surprisingly to the public, he withdrew from the techno scene at the end of 1999.
Since then, @Harald Blüchel publishes his work under his real name, which, in terms of content, composition and sound, can be attributed to contemporary classical music.
