Whilst on a journey to slaughter the celestial realm and devour its innards, the Brazilian life-eater death metal ensemble Cosmophage emerges on an abhorrent planet, with their debut EP, Sidereal Malignancy.
The EP consists of 6 tracks, adding up to 22 minutes of a brutal yet transcendental odyssey through reality-bending parts of the universe. Cosmophage’s sound portrays its heritage from old school names such as Gorguts, Demilich, Immolation and Suffocation, by combining weird and progressive riffs with skull-crushing violent ones.
Sidereal Malignancy was entirely self-produced, having been home-recorded throughout 2024. In Brazil, it is getting a CD pressing by the renowned label Cianeto Discos. The cover art was created by Mariana Bergo, accurately depicting the group’s outlandish artistic intentions.
Conceived in 2022, Cosmophage took shape from the dust of a previous project known as Utterance, which had released the EP Conflagration in 2019. The group now is made up of five musicians who live across the towns that surround Brasília, the capital of Brazil. They are Diogo Dantas (vocals/synths), Manoel Bento (drums), Matheus Alpino (rhythm guitar/lyrics), Roberto Borges (lead guitar) and Vinícius Azevedo (bass).
The death metal prospects now seek to tour and expand their malevolent curse onto the whole planet, also looking forward to the creation of an even more flesh thirsty record expected to come out next year.
