Growing up in Glasgow, he later moved to London to study jazz at the Guildhall School, developing a deeper interest in harmony, arrangement and songwriting.
After his studies, Crawford began playing regularly, his early live shows that led to support slots with The Paper Kites, Tom Walker & Damien Dempsey, alongside sold-out headline performances at venues including King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, The Glad Cafe, The Bedford and PizzaExpress Live Holborn.
His debut album Bread & Circuses produced by Jamie Evans of Mexicolas, marked an expansion from early folk-rock and jazz influences into a broader, more exploratory sound. In the years that followed, he released a run of singles supported by BBC Radio 6 Music and The Quay Sessions.
More recently, Crawford has focused on working closely with Rory James, Luke Maher - a longstanding bandmate - and Jamie Evans over extended periods, developing new material alongside drummer Alex Reeves (Elbow). That process led to Boxes, the first release in a new run of work that opens into a deeper, more sustained body of songs, setting the direction for the project going forward.
