Crisis formed in 1980 as a four piece band playing original heavy rock featuring Mike Rawsthorne on guitar, Geoff Lilleyman on drums and Chris Stock on bass. After a number of changes of singer, Russ Meehan joined in 1983 and the line up was settled. They played regularly across the Northwest and Midlands for a number of years and recorded 2 demo's. In 1986 they were invited to record in session for the Tommy Vance Friday Rock Show on Radio 1 and this was well received with Tommy saying " if you're ever within 100 miles of London let me know because I want to be there". In 1987 they recorded a session for Manchester's Piccadilly Radio. After splitting up in 1990 they reformed in 2010 for a one off gig. They decided to keep going but this time as a three piece with Russ playing bass and singing. In 2013 released the mini album Regeneration featuring 4 new and 2 old songs. In 2015 Cult Metal Classics released a compilation of 15 of their recordings from the 1980's on vinyl and CD. In 2016 Russ left to write and play solo material and Mike and Geoff formed Black Project which continued in a very similar vein to Crisis. In 2023 Mike, Geoff and Russ got back into the rehearsal studio to blow the cobwebs off and celebrate 40 years since Russ joined the band. The sessions proved they could still do it and so with renewed enthusiasm, gigging has recommenced! Their style is very much classic heavy rock featuring powerful rhythms, riffs and melodies and Russ's outstanding voice.
