Cultural Roots emerged as a four-part harmony group for producer Donovan Germain in the late 1970s, releasing two sought-after albums, Revolutionary Sounds and Drift Away From Evil, featuring a line-up of Wade Dice, Hubert Brooks, Norman Gallimore, and Everton Drummonds. The group with this original lineup then recorded for Junjo Lawes, releasing Hell A Go Pop in 1984, one of the Greensleeves label’s lesser-known classics.

The group reemerged in 1988 with a new trio lineup for King Jammy, with singer Lloyd Grandison joining Wade Dyce and Hubert Brooks.

The group recorded with singer Devon Russell in the late 1980s and had an album for producer Hugh "Redman" James.

While Hubert Brooks is now deceased, singer/songwriter Wade Dyce has kept the group name and legacy alive, based in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
