Halifax-based Cyrus R.O. doesn't like to get too comfortable. A labour of love, R.O.'s music seeks to twist the familiar, deftly weaving novel ideas into a tapestry of familiar pop tropes.
This is exemplified in his debut record Deconvolution, in which R.O. deftly combines his rock roots with the bold production of Nine Inch Nails, the electro-jazz explorations of Sungazer, and the searing lyrics of acts like Against Me and Mitski. A stark left turn from more analogue sound of previous work with the alt-rock laden Cyrus R.O. Quartet and the hard rock heavyweights Dali Van Gogh, Deconvolution is R.O.'s boldest and brightest work to date.
