<a href="spotify:artist:79rbZVkcqL2dIB9sKuE5Kg" data-name="Damn Hands">Damn Hands</a> was formed in 2011, over a mutual love of actor Sam Neill, by Dan Martin, Kyle Rother (<a href="spotify:artist:0QmCagUySfCDgJbCkp0Dt8" data-name="K. Rother">K. Rother</a>), and Patrick Kennedy during a break from Martin and Rother’s duties in the Austin quintet <a href="spotify:artist:3HQ8Y5V93tNLhemNwIkpZc" data-name="Whalers">Whalers</a>. A flurry of writing over a two week period led to the <a href="spotify:album:5WLoPw7GuJHhQyFfPaGZS6" data-name="Damn Hands">Damn Hands</a> EP, featuring Jason Rother on drums. After another long stint writing and releasing music with Whalers, Martin and Rother reconvened as a duo to self produce the <a href="spotify:album:0eTNU5ybTCbsLnP7Xk4FIp" data-name="Catalina">Catalina</a> EP in 2013. Following this trend they reunited after another Whalers album with drummer Jason for the <a href="spotify:album:2JPmp8Jvw0RfuxmSnOtpqr" data-name="More Songs">More Songs</a> EP in 2017.
The single <a href="spotify:album:5KSz36k6wRLj8s68Ua67Tt" data-name="Two in the Wave">Two in the Wave</a> arrived in June 2020 in an effort to preempt a new EP. True to form, two years later, the <a href="spotify:album:2vmbsywuTIFp8ZMSjdUv4K" data-name="Holiday Weight">Holiday Weight</a> EP was released.
