Damon Little

Singer and songwriter Damon Little has become a major figure in gospel music for his songs that deal with personal and social matters as well as spiritual fulfillment. Starting out as a member of the group <a href="spotify:artist:2bRfyRRVVFEec1qnS15tut">Nu Beginning</a>, Little has been sharing his messages with a bright, powerful voice and a musical style that shows the influences of contemporary R&B as well as gospel. After breaking out as a solo artist with singles like 2012's "Make a Way" and "Let It Be," he enjoyed a record 44-week run on the Gospel charts with his song "Stand Up," and in 2023 he teamed with neo-soul diva <a href="spotify:artist:2hWr3AjjKOCVmWcwvuT4uM">Angie Stone</a> for the inspiring No Stressing.

Damon Little began his singing ministry at the age of five, when he and his brothers and cousins formed a family group. His first studio recording was with his uncle, the great <a href="spotify:artist:784MVRBMY8Iyc2iNSTxXfO">Clarence Fountain</a> of <a href="spotify:artist:5TVL4FXEntBYZb3ujyt6fH">the Five Blind Boys of Alabama</a>. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Little spent a portion of his childhood years in Pensacola, Florida, where he developed a resonant singing style reminiscent at times of <a href="spotify:artist:3dkbV4qihUeMsqN4vBGg93">Al Green</a> or <a href="spotify:artist:61iHwGtn8QiMg12ue4HIJZ">Philippe Wynne</a>, former lead singer of <a href="spotify:artist:5fbhwqYYh4YwUoEs582mq5">the Spinners</a>. Little's career went to the next level when he joined an R&B-influenced vocal group called <a href="spotify:artist:2bRfyRRVVFEec1qnS15tut">Nu Beginning</a>. The title track of their 2002 album, You Can't Straddle the Fence, got airplay on gospel radio. The group's second album, Do Right, followed in 2004, featuring the song "Do Right (How You Gonna Do Right with a Do Wrong Mind)," which became another gospel radio favorite.

After setting out on his own, Little's musical ministry took him to Mexico, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and elsewhere, often as part of Radio-One's Gospel Cruise, and he has been featured on TV One, BET, TBN, and the Word Network. Launching his own <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Little+World+Music%22">Little World Music</a> label, Little recorded singles when he wasn't busy with his personal ministry focusing on the needs of the elderly, and his duties as a spokesman for the United Ostomy Association of America. In 2021, he released "Stand Up," a number decrying racism and discrimination as well as celebrating the Lord; the song spent 44 weeks on the Gospel Airplay charts before finally peaking at number one.
