Daniel Rooney is the so-called overnight success who has worked his whole life hoping for a break, a moment.
And he got it, when Hollywood showbiz dude Ross King spotted him in a Glasgow hotel bar just as his mate Gary Barlow was calling him for ideas for a stand in support.
Take That were playing the Hydro, a two minute run from Radisson Red where Dan was playing, and our boy wonder didn’t need asking twice – he was on stage, standing in for delayed Olly Murs, in front of 14,000 people 20 minutes later.
As the story went around the world, the softly spoken singer just wanted people to know there was more to him than covers and a wild, but true story.
So first single Old Ways, a glorious ode to simpler times of swinging glamour and soulful grooves, is out now with plans to release more new original tunes this summer. A lot more.
Because yes, Daniel is that guy, the one who landed the break.
But he’s also this guy – the one who has spent years writing and playing with his mates, solo, in bands.
Honing, refining, hoping, The eyes and ears of the world are on him..
So don’t miss out… take a chance, check him out. Gary Barlow did.
Since releasing his own music, Daniel gained recognition for his first single 'Old Ways' and received 'BBC track of the week'.
He has since released another two singles, 'Love To Save' and 'Forevermore'. Daniel also managed to tick off another bucket list moment by playing a sold out headline show at the iconic King Tuts venue in Glasgow.
