Darbuka Siva, is a writer, director, musician, music producer and an actor based in Chennai, India. Growing up in the suburbs of what was then North Madras, Siva was aware of his music calling early on during schooling, but wasn’t able to do much because of the middle-class situation at home. But soon, the time came to drop out of college and take music seriously.

Siva started his performing career in 2002 with 'Oikyotaan', an outfit that was experimenting with Bengali Baul music. That experience shaped up Siva’s musical approach, inspiring him to go searching for his own sound. In 2005 he started <a href="spotify:album:3HTHaSRTYE7rVuFJD9ADSi" data-name="Yodhakaa">Yodhakaa</a> - a contemporary Indian classical music group that worked with ancient Sanskrit texts. In 2010 Siva started a new project called <a href="spotify:artist:6bJgMQkYADrJVSOKoMUXwF" data-name="La Pongal">La Pongal</a> which is more of a contemporary Tamil folk music outfit.

Siva was picked as a cultural ambassador from India to the US in 2013 for a project called 'OneBeat' and then again 2016 for Dosti Music Project. Siva started making music for feature films in 2016. His first film album was Kidaari which is quiet a rooted Tamil folk sound with contemporary influences. Siva's next major album was <a href="spotify:album:45bGofpPXb9IrX5gpp9Lgx" data-name="Enai Noki Paayum Thota (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)">Enai Noki Paayum Thota (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)</a>. The song <a href="spotify:track:4FyZDLPO1ErUjzwnLrCLTA" data-name="Maruvaarthai">Maruvaarthai</a>, the first released single of the film was a massive hit.

Siva turned into a writer/director in 2022 with his debut film 'Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee' which was a massive hit with its title track becoming an instant chartbuster.
