DARKER

Dark, romantic, melancholic, entrancing.

At the start of the pandemic in 2020, Jeps and Evil-ien reanimated their Kaoss pads, drum computers, synthguitars and keyboards and locked themselves up in their homestudio in Tilburg writing the themes for a post-apocalyptic world they expected to find later that year. At the same time, the bands singer Valerio, who locked himself up in his The Hague studio, finishing vocals for their first singles.

The trio found themselves experimenting with dark melodies and lyrics that are all about hope, love and dealing with emotions of angst while banging their drum machines, tweaking their plug-ins and pushing the limits of their synths to exorcise their inner demons.

The resulting recordings have a huge club, festival and radio potential. Strongly rooted in 80ʼs synthpop, darkwave, postpunk, dystopian soundscapes and electronic music in the vein of bands like <a href="spotify:artist:762310PdDnwsDxAQxzQkfX" data-name="Depeche Mode">Depeche Mode</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6e9wIFWhBPHLE9bXK8gtBI" data-name="Editors">Editors</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6ssXMmc5EOUrauZxirM910" data-name="White Lies">White Lies</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0X380XXQSNBYuleKzav5UO" data-name="Nine Inch Nails">Nine Inch Nails</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6e9wIFWhBPHLE9bXK8gtBI" data-name="Editors">Editors</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1yDbenrXWhaQij3SCpsXe7" data-name="How To Destroy Angels">How To Destroy Angels</a>.

Since their sold-out show in Tilburg, January 2023, DARKER has toured with &#64;Auger, &#64;Korinthians and &#64;Palais Ideal, and headlined Wave Invasion Fest at Hyde Park, Osnabrück, supported bands like <a href="spotify:artist:6FfjnGXMhxSsJTuGLWBDth" data-name="HEALTH">HEALTH</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7wJ9NwdRWtN92NunmXuwBk" data-name="Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark">Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2KtnZQwMQJN3uyI8eHZRvm" data-name="Dance With the Dead">Dance With the Dead</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:461TaZqofVfcQo2wtMwnQJ" data-name="LeBrock">LeBrock</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0YUu3RelBqv30RqXLKzdP0" data-name="Minimal Schlager">Minimal Schlager</a>.

DARKER is creating Future Classics. A hopeful soundtrack for a post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure for a soon to be written trending Netflix series.
