Nominated by Bob Dylan as his favorite Australian artist, Dave Warner 's first band was punk style Pus (1972) formed in Perth, Western Australia, the world's most isolated city. By the late 70s Warner had invented a highly original style of music: Suburban Rock. with a heavy emphasis on Zappa-Fugs satire, incredible improvised monologues - a forerunner to rap - abundant lyrical dexterity, and plain old outrageous rock. Introspective folksy songs like Campus Days sat side by side with the abrasive Girls Wank. Warner's first albums Mugs Game and Free Kicks were big successes in Australia. In 1980 Warner met with legendary producer Kim Fowley in LA. and the album This Is My Planet was the result. By the early 80s Warner began exploring other areas of creativity; writing plays, books and films. He is an award winning crime author in Australia and has audio books available. His films have starred the likes of Molly Ringwald, Kylie Minogue and Travis Fimmel. He continues to write, record and tour. His new single WHAT LOVE REALLY IS is a departure, a bitter/sweet song that forms part of what he calls his `coastal' album. Says Warner `The song is a throwback to the keyboard singer-songwriters I grew up with: Brian Wilson, Nilsson, Gilbert O'Sullivan. Classic verse-chorus-bridge. Tony Cooper arranged and produced. I'd love a really good singer to pick it up,I'm not sure I do it justice - but there is plenty of heart in it, and that's the important thing.'
