David Singer & The Sweet Science

David Singer is a musician/filmmaker/writer/composer based in Chicago.
He has released five LPs, both solo and with his band The Sweet Science, and played hundreds of shows around the world. His records have found their way onto the Albums of the Year lists of the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, No Depression, Huffington Post, and the prestigious Village Voice "Pazz & Jop" poll. Greg Kot of Sound Opinions describes David as "one of the city's most evolved pop craftsmen of the last decade.”

His new record, VICIOUS KICKS, is a glitter-flecked LP about our inexorable search for something/anything that can break through the boredom, the desensitization, the targeted advertorials, the doomscrolling, the uncanny experience that passes for being a person right now.

Recorded over two years with Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine) at Chicago's Narwhal Studios, VICIOUS KICKS careens from sequin-encrusted stompers to post-Prince bedroom funk, leaving a trail of fuzzed-out guitars and buzzed-out synths in its wake.

As a composer, David has scored projects including August: Osage County (winner of five Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize) and the Broadway revival of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men.

His short film Advantage: Weinberg was selected for the Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival. His feature film debut, Imperfections, was released around the world in 2018. Recently, his digital series “Incoming” won the Austin Film Festival Script Competition.
