I grew up in Idaho. As a child, I was overwhelmed by the emotions of music. Through the years, I started seeing what I was looking for - a way to process emotion through the resonance of music.
As a teenager, learning to create was a lot of work, but soon, the music seemed to flow. It encapsulated and validated what I felt and experienced.
For a while, life crowded out music. There were such amazing joys with my wife and our wonderful children. Yet, music kept coming back. I couldn’t ignore it. I started different projects, met new friends and unraveled more about my mission with music.
I was working a great job but couldn’t sacrifice music for it. I left work and pursued music full-time. Life got difficult with trying to make ends meet, keep my marriage and family together, and create music.
It came to the point where my wife and I divorced. These newest songs are my attempt to process those emotions. We became friends and remarried, yet, to this day, it’s still a struggle. Say You Will brings up the to and fro of saying divorce will happen, but it doesn’t, of saying an affair will happen, but it doesn’t, of saying that destiny will be broken, but it won’t be. I felt renewal completing the song, and even though I don’t have all the answers, I can move forward and trust in God and in life, doing my best.
The resonance is why I’m here; to create music to better the lives of those around me. I hope that I can positively affect your life. That’s my why. You’re my purpose.
