David Wingo is a film composer and rock musician based in Austin, Texas. He is best known for scoring a number of director David Gordon Green's films as well as Jeff Nichols' 2011 Cannes winner Take Shelter. His collaboration with childhood friend Green began in the late 90's when he would provide music for some of Green's student films. His career as a composer was effectively launched when he scored Green's critically acclaimed 2000 debut George Washington. Over the coming decade, he would score many more of Green's films including All the Real Girls (2003) and The Sitter (2011). He has also resumed work with Nichols, first to score his 2012 film Mud then later providing the soundtrack to the 2016 sci-fi feature Midnight Special.
