DDRMR (an original abbreviation of Daydreamer), known for his deep lyricism, massively epic productions that he does on his own, and versatile style of music that isn't bound by any type of genre, was born 1989 in Voronezh, Russia as Boriz Safi. He began writing raps and experimenting with music software in Burnaby, Canada during his teenage years as a creative outlet for his habit of daydreaming and fell in love with the process of making music completely from scratch.
Heavily influenced by Linkin Park and Mike Shinoda, Buckethead, Kanye West, and onto later influences such as J-Cole, Hans Zimmer, Odesza and Japanese composer Yuki Kajiura, DDRMR’s own music caught the attention of many locally, in the professional world and online, garnering a following and landing him gigs at various venues throughout Metro Vancouver.
DDRMR is also known for his side projects of novelty music about the geek and cosplay cultures, and covers of theme songs from anime properties such as Dragon Ball. He also directs, produces and edits and his own music videos with videography being his original first love as a young teen before discovering songwriting and production, when he would edit AMVs after school and on weekends from 13 years old.
DDRMR continues to work on his craft, enjoying the challenge of the puzzle that is rhythmic poetry, the emotional catharsis of listening to the final versions of his songs, and the energy of being on stage in front of a live audience.
