DEIRA premieres "ALBA", an album filled with magic events experienced by the band following their first big tour that took them to some of most emblematic festivals in the celtic-folk panorama in Europe. All of this after receiving first prize in the prestigious Battle of the Folk Bands at world-famous Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
ALBA has two intrinsic meanings: "dawn" in Spanish and "Scotland" in Scottish Gaelic. It brings a modern sound, mainly from the band original compositions, but with deep roots in Asturian and Scottish folk. Produced by themselves and with additional support by Hector Perez from Mundo Sinfonico Studios in Sevilla, the CD features important collaborations such as Galician piper Anzo Lorenzo, Cesar Pastor on uileann pipes, Scottish banjo player Ciaran Ryan (Dallahan, Mec Lir), Galician bodhran player Pablo Vergara (boj) and Asturian Pedro Santiago "Pintu" on cajon.
The trio, Xixon-born Gonzalo Llao on bouzouki, Juan Almaraz on flutes and Salvador Daza on fiddle - both from Andalusia, started in 2019 when they were hired as resident band on the Asturian tent at the Lorient Interceltic Festival (French Brittany). All three individually had by now an extensive musical career with several folk projects such as Vrienden, Stolen Notes or Young Forest. During lockdown they recorded a demo which helped them to win several awards and to secure a place in several festivals in Spain and Scotland.
