Dejoicer is a four piece alternative band comprised of Bartek Konar on vocals and guitar, Jan Rzepka on bass, Artem Strokan on lead guitar, and Sam Reid on drums. Bartek and Jan initially founded the band as they were looking for a drummer. Not long after the band begun, they met Sam in Hamm, Germany playing drums at an open stage night where they asked him to join. Eventually, Artem joined some months later. They reside primarily between Hamm and Dortmund, Germany. Oddly enough, none of them really are German aside from Jan who is Polish and is the first generation German born. Bartek moved from Poland in 2019. Sam moved from the southwestern United States at the end of 2022 and around the same time, Artem moved from the Ukraine. The current lineup was official by April of 2023. They all bonded over their passion for creating music and their mutual love for artists from the 90’s and early 00’s. For lack of a better term, they call themselves a “hardcore band” but really, their fluctuating sound between heavy riffs and dreamy melodies is as if nu metal, grunge and shoegaze managed to have a love child.
