Deliverance began its musical journey when Etienne Sarthou (guitar, also in Karras, Freitot and founding member AqME) and Pierre Duneau (vocals) joined forces to develop their own paradigm of artistic expression. One that was firmly rooted, and free from rules that are often imposed in extreme music: a deliverance.
The 1st album CHRST (2017) was acclaimed by critics, and laid the defining foundation for the personality of the band. The line-up is now stabilized with Sacha Février on bass and Fred Quota on drums.
The 2nd album, Holocaust 26:1-46, was released in early 2020 and again critically acclaimed (in magazines such as RockHard, Legacy, New Noise…). A few months later, the members of Deliverance put themselves to work, writing their third album with plans of surpassing boundaries. Neon Chaos in a Junk-Sick Dawn (2022) opens a new ambitious chapter: if its black metal/sludge DNA is still strong, the band draws new influences from psychedelic and progressive music from the 70’s (such as Pink Floyd), and even contemporary indie-rock/electronic music which are unprecedented in this musical sphere. This 3rd album, the cornerstone of a diehard artistic project, has enabled the band to sign with prestigious label Les Acteurs de l’Ombre.
Having drawn the attention of the organisers, Deliverance played at the 2022 edition of Hellfest Music Festival in front of thousands of fans at the Temple stage (alongside Watain, Alcest and Regarde les hommes tomber).
