Deni Hines began her career singing backup vocals for acts like Wa Wa Nee, Peter Blakely and Kylie Minogue. She first gained mainstream attention as the vocalist for Sydney based group, The Rockmelons - having several Australian hits including, "Aint no Sunshine', "That Word (L.O.V.E.)” and "It's Not Over".

Prior to pursuing a solo career, Hines spent time performing with a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Her first single, "It's Alright", became a Top 10 smash in Australia in 1996, as well as charting in Japan and France. Her full-length debut "Imagination" soon made her an international star. Hines moved to the UK and toured the album, "Pay Attention". There she toured with Lighthouse Family and Earth,Wind and Fire.

After returning to Australia, Deni continued working on projects including - "The Other Woman” with Jazz legend, James Morrison, released “Water For Chocolate” and “The Soul Sessions” and wrote a song for Beyonce Knowles, "Bienvenue", with French Hip Hop act, IAM.

She also received a Helpmann Nomination for Best Supporting Actress in “Dusty The Musical” and appeared in "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" and in Bruce Beresford's film, "Mao's Last Dancer".

In 2024, Deni will be releasing her latest album, “The Tokyo Sessions”. A collaboration with the Japanese band Ricky With FSP, it includes many originals and some sublime covers - including Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and Elton John’s “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters".
