Infectious rhythms that can’t be contained by labeling it house music: Desmon’s
productions explore what the genre can be, while firmly rooting his music in the
history of those who came before.
As a music polymath, Desmon radiates music: audio engineering, production, DJing,
running a music studio, record store clerk and music curation. These all serve as
sources of inspiration to Desmon, whether it’s the new music he’s mixing and
producing for his peers, the people he meets along the way or listening to influential
records by legendary artists such as Herbie Hancock, Byron the Aquarius, Ron Trent,
Theo Parrish & Space Ghost. They all culminate in the way Desmon moves through
the local nightlife, where he and his productions feel most at home.
With a trained ear for rhythms, Desmon flips these inspirations into his own
creations that explore dance music as a practice and a genre. The hybridity in both
his music and his approach toward it are synonymous with Desmon and lead him to
produce unique and meticulous records with a fiery passion. While honing his skills
and watching (read: listening) from the sidelines, KAMMA & MASALO propel
Desmon toward his debut single Submerge, featured on their Rush Hour Records
compilation.
With more rhythm than a bag full of salt shakers and a soul that
reflects the soul in his music, Desmon expands beyond the wide range of house
music, but evidently stem from the same source.
