Taking mentorship from key figures in American, British, and French electronic music, producer/DJ Aguila continues to build upon the legacy of second-generation house and techno.
Originally from Queens, New York, Lázaro Aguilar quietly learned the trade of production and running raves at an early age. Following a string of self-releases during high school, they gained international acclaim and garnered support of well-respected DJs. After a battle with cancer, Lázaro headed for Chicago to fully immerse themselves in the city's nightlife.
While interning at smartbar, they continued to develop their knack for running undergrounds throughout the city. Having co-founded Support System—a series of loft parties built on the ethos of Midwest Rave and David Mancuso's Loft—they honed their DJ skills in longform sets. As a collective, Support System lasted from 2017 to 2019, concluding with a 34-hour loft party featuring over 30 of Chicago's finest underground talent.
Not shying away from production, Lázaro released under their label, The People's Bureau of Ignorance. Catching Lobster Theremin's attention, they delivered the trance-tinged smash, 'The Club On 27th West,' in 2019. Following releases on Seb Wildblood's all my thoughts, Holly Lester's Duality Trax, Ralph Lawson's 20:20 Vision, and Noire & Blanche, along with hosting a radio show on Beloved Radio (Dress 2 Sweat.FM), they are now under Chez Damier's mentorship—carrying the torch for Midwestern Dance Music worldwide.
