Detest – A Journey of Chaos, Redemption, and Relentless Aggression
It all started in 1990, and the following year, Deathbreed—Detest’s debut demo tape—saw the light of day. The recording process wasn’t easy. The studio owner didn’t quite understand our music, so we took matters into our own hands, producing and mixing it ourselves. Despite the challenges, the demo was met with positive reception, and soon after, Detest earned a groundbreaking spot at the 1993 Roskilde Festival.
In the autumn of 1993, we hit the studio again, this time recording Dorval under the Progress Red Label. With the release of Dorval, things were looking great—countless concerts, rising fan support, and everything seemed to fall into place.
In 2014, Detest was revived for a series of concerts, but I (John) quickly realized that the spark was not there for the other members. Determined to carry on, 2018, the band had transformed into a more focused, hard-hitting unit.
In 2019, we released the A Moment of Love EP, which was met with critical acclaim from the Danish metal press. The fire had been reignited, and I, personally, had a renewed hunger to take Detest to the next level.
That next chapter came in the fall of 2021 with the release of We Will Get What We Deserve. But we’re not stopping there. Now, with our latest album A World Drowning in Detest, we’re ready to wipe out all hope and drown you in chaos, anger, and unforgettable riffs.
