In mid 2015 Scott Lord and Paul McCorkle formed Distant Mountains as a musical outlet free of the pressures of bands past. As both members had worked in previous projects they had become disillusioned with the rat race that was the music industry and really wanted to focus on creating music for the sake of music. The music that flowed from the project has always meant to be experimental, quirky, whimsical, and thoughtful all at the same time. In 2017 the duo released their debut EP “A Small Few”. After a chance encounter in the Spring of 2017 the band brought in drummer Ben Manning to help expand their sound. A string of singles were released between August 2017 and January 2019. Each single exploring a different sonic space and feel. In March of 2019 the band released their first full length album “Stationed Lockstep”. Distant Mountains continues to write and record regularly based on the principle that you can do anything you want at any time with music.
