Amsterdam based singer/songwriter Diwa Meijman immediately draws you in with her deep and silky voice that hits you right in the feels. ‘He forgot to say goodbye’ is the debut-single of her very first solo outing as diwa. Her indie-pop-noir brings about comparisons with Lana del Rey and Aldous Harding. diwa creates a dark and seductive world that you want to wander through. Through her catchy melodies and minimalistic metaphors she opens up about memories that had a deep impact on her. Her first EP is to be released in early 2021. It’s a young woman’s coming of age story. “I have a shadow self and it was time for me to show it.”
Diwa first turned heads as the lead-singer for the raw and rootsy Dutch band Darlyn. Earlier this year the band released their first album and won ‘The Zilveren Notekraker’ a prestigieus Dutch award for upcoming talent. Now the band is giving her the opportunity to discover herself as a solo-artist. diwa opens up her voice into dazzling new worlds. “I wanted to see what other colors my voice has and the vocal sound I found in this project is very close to my core. Because I sing like this, I’m forced to write more personal lyrics. It’s like I put on this heavy dark coat. The melancholic side of me has a different voice.”
