Classically trained, Morykit originally embraced many genres. His early musical life began in the vibrant Northampton scene alongside his musical contemporaries such as <a href="spotify:artist:5N5tQ9Dx1h8Od7aRmGj7Fi" data-name="Bauhaus">Bauhaus</a> before he moved to London with his own band and doing session work.
Inspired by the work of <a href="spotify:artist:0mkcYaXUbJUs5mJointuzB" data-name="Rick Wakeman">Rick Wakeman</a> , <a href="spotify:artist:0k17h0D3J5VfsdmQ1iZtE9" data-name="Pink Floyd">Pink Floyd</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0oSGxfWSnnOXhD2fKuz2Gy" data-name="David Bowie">David Bowie</a> plus classical composers from <a href="spotify:artist:5aIqB5nVVvmFsvSdExz408" data-name="Johann Sebastian Bach">Johann Sebastian Bach</a> to <a href="spotify:artist:17hR0sYHpx7VYTMRfFUOmY" data-name="Maurice Ravel">Maurice Ravel</a>, his interest then turned to visual works. He composed for poets, dancers and film makers, with commissions from Amnesty International and the Ukrainian Consul and performed many times at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Morykit is recognised for his concert alongside Fritz Lang’s Metropolis which has toured extensively in the UK and Europe. The piano suite was composed independently of the visuals and premiered at London's Wilton's Music Hall. The score includes minimalist influences whilst referencing J S Bach and Philip Glass to create an expansive and inclusive atmosphere, heightening the tension in the film.
He has also created a concert for FW Murnau’s Nosferatu, <a href="spotify:album:0KubOLqlOGiQHtUnRcPR2w" data-name="Land of Spectres">Land of Spectres</a> and Lang's Der Müde Tod, commissioned by the Baltic Film and Media School in Tallinn in 2019.
His recordings are successful across the world with his own piano interpretations of classic film and rock music. Morykit's brother is the musician, Roman Morykit, who with his wife and musical partner, Cilette Swan, form, <a href="spotify:artist:10J7Ml8M2EXo5AGNeLVL6f" data-name="Gypsy Soul">Gypsy Soul</a> .
