London based experimental dance act D*Note, the brainchild of Matt Winn (nee Wienevski), originally emerged out of London's rare groove and acid jazz scene in the early nineties. Their 1993 debut LP 'Babel' was released on legendary Dorado Records and recorded with the assistance of DJ/Producer, Charlie Lexton and keyboardist Matt Cooper. Hits included 'Now Is The Time' and Cafe del Mar favourite 'D*Votion'. The politically on point second album 'Criminal Justice' was released in 1995 featuring 'Iniquity Worker' and 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' and they were subsquently signed to Virgin EMI for their third album 'D*Note'. 'Fuscia Dog' featuring the classic 'Shed My Skin' was released in 2002 and 'Laguna' an album of songs with Beth Hirsch was released in 2006. In addition to music, Winn also tackled film starting with the half-hour featurette 'Coming Down' in 1997 and most recently 'The Trouble With Jessica', which he wrote and directed. He composed the music with the help of Matt Cooper.
