Dominique Toney

Dominique Toney is a singer, songwriter, arranger, producer, and pianist whose style of contemporary R&B is refined and introspective. The daughter of Grammy-nominated musician <a href="spotify:artist:1tTgW7qTHbI2rpdp2MrGZ0">Kevin Toney</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:7uykqYYhDUugFJgKZWXIWq">the Blackbyrds</a>) and high-profile costume designer Phyllis Toney, she was raised in Southern California and at a young age was deeply involved in dance, music, and theater. At New York University, she studied musical theater and took classes in songwriting. In 2014, she released A Love Like Ours on her father's <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22K-Tone%22">K-Tone</a> label. The elder Toney appeared on the album, as did a few other major veterans of R&B and jazz, including guitarists <a href="spotify:artist:0NyzfcGDZZ6GM25EBG9BYK">Ray Parker, Jr.</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4kNjFX8aTFXZ3351jHrpY1">Craig T. Cooper</a>, and bassist Freddie Washington.
