Don Stewart was born in the Red River Valley of Texas, but grew up in southeast Texas. He started playing the guitar when he was eight years old and ended up forming a blues band in Austin, Texas when he was nineteen.
“When I got married in Austin I was twenty-one and I lost interest in playing the guitar until my wife died from cancer. I started playing the guitar again and have been writing songs ever since. I’d never written a song before my wife died. I write what I want to hear and usually my lyrics follow what I’ve made up on the guitar.”
Don writes about grief and loss, but also about hope and finding new love. “I met someone new and we’ve been married for almost two years. I don’t plan to ever perform. I just like to write and release albums. You may not like my songs, but just know that they’re from my heart. That’s all I know how to write.”
