Starting out as a solo project by singer Frederik Gøtzsche, Doula soon expanded into their present five-piece line-up featuring Mikkel Anttila (Guitar), Lasse Vistisen (Bass), Lauge Jørn (Drums) and Emil Duvier (Synth). Their sound is a potent cocktail of hard-hitting drums and punchy bass lines, drenched in ambient guitars and melodic synth riffs. Most songs have an instant bewitching romp, laying the foundations for rich, textured choruses. Combining the old new-wave nostalgia from the likes of David Bowie, Talking Heads and Orange Juice, with a topical post-punk mentality popular within contemporary international music scenes.
