Strobolights, to be released on May 2, 2025, is the first taste of the long-awaited debut LP Sniffin’ Around. The album will be released digitally on May 16, 2025, and on vinyl on May 28, 2025.
Who’s waiting for it? Well, in addition to the band itself – namely, Elisa (vocals and bass), Antti (guitar), and Jussi (drums) – an ever-growing crowd of clubgoers seen at recent shows smiling in dumb ecstasy.
“Complicated times need simple music!” is the trio's motto, but simple can have a lot of reach. Kare Karhu, proprietor and soul of the Blue Bear label releasing Sniffin' Around, has already compared his protégés to The Stooges, The Wire, Captain Beefheart, Hurriganes, and the Velvet Underground. Who knows what’s to come? The record’s engineer and producer compared the Dog to The Pixies playing Danzig.
Drug Dog plays with a real thump and a love for human—or sometimes even animal—imperfection. Though Drug Dog was born in a maelstrom of chaos and loud sound, Sniffin’ Around does have its moments of calm, which really showcase the versatility of Elisa’s singing. The pack moves in mysterious ways. So approach with care. If you get bitten by the Drug Dog, there’s no cure for that viral infection of joyous trio.
