Dry Bones Army is a 5-piece progressive metal band from the Heredia province in Costa Rica. Band members Diego Hidalgo (Vocals/keyboard), Erick Sánchez (guitar), Esteban Mercado (guitar), Leonardo Caballero (bass) and David Arias (drums) give life to this project that combines death metal elements with odd-time signatures and melodic passages in an attempt to break out of a defined soundscape.
The idea behind the band starts from what they thought was a need: how to improve as human beings and make other people improve. The name Dry Bones Army is drawn as an analogy to the story of the dry bones valley and what they intend to reflect is an interest on making things grow, to take responsibility for that change, to make people enjoy life and enjoy who they are and embrace themselves. They want everybody to see that no one is truly lonely, that suffering and sadness are things we all live every day and that they are part of the human condition, much like love, hope and friendship. This is reflected in the use of heavier riffs that intertwine with melodic passages and ambient-like interludes. Thus, in their own way, the band seeks to raise all the fallen and give strength to those already risen from hardship; to create an army capable of battling the obstacles we all live through with powerful weapons.
