Julia Willeitner and Danilo Cabaluz met at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg (Austria) in 2013, forming Duo CellAr with the aim of expanding the scarce existing literature for Cello and Guitar. Duo CellAr exploits the resources of each instrument to the maximum, seeking to merge popular styles so intrinsic in the Guitar, with the classical elements so typical of the Cello, creating programs of new arrangements that take audiences through a musical journey from the European Classic to Latin America.
Over the years the duo continues to develop and expand their musical spectrum by performing their own original compositions, and by broadening their instrumentation, incorporating singing for two voices, as well as traditional instruments such as the Charango from Latin America, the Venezuelan Cuatro, and the Viol da Gamba of the European Baroque.
Recent performances have included recitals, festival appearances and tours to Germany, Austria, Spain, Brazil and Chile, and in November 2015 they released their debut album "La vida breve". In 2022 Duo CellAr will publish two albums of new repertoire, including one dedicated to the music of South America and the other illuminating European Baroque music.
