Birmingham UK singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ed Geater combines sublime songwriting, rhythmical dexterity and technical prowess.
Growing up on rock, pop and electronic music, Ed used inspiration from his childhood classical training and pursued his love of songwriting, while harnessing his skills as an intrumentalist/producer and learning to beatbox.
Influenced by his obsession with artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:0cmWgDlu9CwTgxPhf403hb" data-name="Bonobo">Bonobo</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2VAvhf61GgLYmC6C8anyX1" data-name="Boards of Canada">Boards of Canada</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7Eu1txygG6nJttLHbZdQOh" data-name="Four Tet">Four Tet</a> – Ed set out to create similar musical landscapes using acoustic guitar and atmospheric production. The resulting sound is an electronica infused, pop-laden tapestry, with nods to songwriters such as <a href="spotify:artist:3nnQpaTvKb5jCQabZefACI" data-name="Jeff Buckley">Jeff Buckley</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1fUMEn4Yk7ZUloozE0fRLL" data-name="Jamie Woon">Jamie Woon</a>.
Signed to Brox Records - the label's first release was the hip-hop infused <a href="spotify:track:1ukXdvwRzgWlOzs3GRyhoi" data-name="Found a Place (feat. Lady Sanity)">Found a Place (feat. Lady Sanity)</a> featuring Birmingham MC <a href="spotify:artist:41GSvyq3TDpJu49qvAU6X8" data-name="SANITY">SANITY</a> which gained significant support from BBC Introducing, leading to spins on BBC 6 Music by <a href="spotify:artist:6DwtKOBE3ubTsXyRX7wiUz" data-name="Tom Robinson">Tom Robinson</a> and a live session with SBTV.
In 2020 Ed teamed up with fellow Birmingham artist <a href="spotify:artist:7ygSJBM6sZ0vXGJvjnL1V5" data-name="ENiGMA Dubz">ENiGMA Dubz</a> to rework five of his songs on <a href="spotify:album:3HADnsnMqWSdLr6q0ypAAN" data-name="Geater Dubz">Geater Dubz</a>, including <a href="spotify:track:1cPA8fsDcvFNNratIThOdx" data-name="Part of You - ENiGMA Dubz Remix">Part of You - ENiGMA Dubz Remix</a> that was curated within Spotify's <a href="spotify:playlist:37i9dQZF1DXdgz8ZB7c2CP" data-name="creamy">creamy</a> playlist. Ed hit playlist success again in 2022 with US based, Indian artist <a href="spotify:artist:2n4qix48iT07tbyBdxAjM2" data-name="Subhi">Subhi</a> when their heartfelt single <a href="spotify:album:4MBUeBCbsc4qpLw2Pe54Rh" data-name="Water Raft">Water Raft</a> was featured in <a href="spotify:playlist:37i9dQZF1DXaRf94BiB7fV" data-name="Fresh Finds India">Fresh Finds India</a>.
