Canadian artist Eden Samara grew up writing folk songs and performing in the theatre, before an encounter with European clubs inspired her to pursue her love of dance music.
Breaking through with vocal appearances on <a href="spotify:artist:536qHynzDH1QviwhWY9dE3" data-name="Loraine James">Loraine James</a>’s album Reflection and <a href="spotify:artist:438TWpixWUH0KLP6ARfymt" data-name="Parris">Parris</a>’s single ‘Skater’s World’, Eden earned acclaim from Pitchfork, The Guardian, DJ Mag, Crack, Rolling Stone and more.
Eden’s debut album, ‘Rough Night’ was released last fall on London’s Local Action Records. Comprising eight tracks that range from introspective r&b to freaky club-pop, ‘Rough Night’ is an confessional work, fleshed out with appearances from some of the most exciting producers in contemporary club music including <a href="spotify:artist:1FVo44KTXqxo3JxXADWTd9" data-name="Call Super">Call Super</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3CkM2290WOa2ESzhlu5mzM" data-name="Shanti Celeste">Shanti Celeste</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:536qHynzDH1QviwhWY9dE3" data-name="Loraine James">Loraine James</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0uea1sBqx37JwQznLWxqeE" data-name="TSVI">TSVI</a>.
In Eden’s words, “Rough Night offers eight scenes that through music tells my own ‘coming of age’ story. I think well into our adulthood we still go through cycles of losing ourselves and finding ourselves again, so the album encompasses a cycle of growing pains, then coming out the other end where one might appear the same but inside something has shifted. The first scene opens on my headspace at the beginning of the album. The following scenes capture moments in time - falling in love, self-acceptance, loss, sex and sexuality, confusion, and arriving back at the beginning.”
