Eden Shadow (2011-2016) was a progressive rock band that was formed in Guildford, United Kingdom. Welsh musician Ryan Mark Elliott met Alex Broben (Bass) and Tom Burgess (Drums) at the Academy of Contemporary Music and through their love of progressive rock and metal bands such as Rush, Dream Theater, Tool, Porcupine Tree and Opeth , the trio was formed.
Throughout 2011-2012, the band rehearsed relentlessly, playing covers whilst sharing musical ideas and developing music that would eventually feature on their textural EP 'Hail' (2012) and the debut album 'Phases' (2014) which explored vast guitar and synth layers and extended arrangements, aided further by a guest feature from Nik Turner (Hawkwind). Through the support of Welsh record label 'White Knight Records', Eden Shadow were able to sell CDs internationally and the band played underground venues throughout the UK.
In 2015 Elliott moved back to his hometown in Cardiff and started working on the next album 'Melodies for Maladies' (2016) that would feature even more ambitious material that was technically demanding and had a stronger metal influence. The album included a change in lineup with Aled Lloyd on drums and contributions from high profile names in the progressive rock world, Theo Travis (Saxophone and flute) and Colin Elgie (Artwork).
'Melodies for Maladies' received praise from the progressive rock underground and following its release, Ryan Mark Elliott decided to start releasing music under his own name.
