Edit Select

Focusing on atmospheric yet stripped-down, back-to-basics techno tracks for club use, Edit Select is one of several monikers of Glaswegian producer Tony Scott. Previously known under names such as <a href="spotify:artist:4oaokmnrK7FynQwZhaKUnY">Percy X</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6OfdPRreffsjDMIzTqygKV">Mion</a>, he established the Edit Select project, as well as its eponymous label, in 2007. Records with producers like <a href="spotify:artist:1mUVjZFnDM8mHpi4fR2bPC">Gary Beck</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3fI3Z6NnYoeSQjcqPQDbM4">Len Faki</a> followed on labels such as <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Figure%22">Figure</a> and <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Ostgut+Ton%22">Ostgut Ton</a>, and debut album Phlox arrived in 2014. <a href="spotify:artist:0Y0Kj7BOR5DM0UevuY7IvO">Slam</a>'s <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Soma%22">Soma</a> label issued Cyclical Undulations in 2018, and Scott continued to focus on his label, occasionally issuing Edit Select recordings like a 2024 split EP with ARKVS.

Active since the early '90s, Tony Scott released music under several projects on the <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Out+on+a+Limb%22">Out on a Limb</a> label, and gained greater recognition as <a href="spotify:artist:4oaokmnrK7FynQwZhaKUnY">Percy X</a>, with three albums and numerous singles on <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Soma%22">Soma</a>. He began releasing music as Edit Select in 2007, also launching an imprint of the same name. Several 12"s appeared, including releases on labels like <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Ostgut+Ton%22">Ostgut Ton</a> and <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Figure%22">Figure</a>, as well as remixes for the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:4zOEbGsiNi7qGWdyDv43gx">Speedy J</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:21444lX8gpmOX36icLmbFI">Chris Liebing</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:1zXYkLlzE33tpRwmhxCxRA">VCMG</a>. Edit Select's debut full-length, Phlox, appeared on the German label <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Prologue%22">Prologue</a> in 2014. During the same year, the artist released an edit of Teste's classic 1992 track "The Wipe." Collaborations with <a href="spotify:artist:254k960TtnSDGQKOFGaWS3">Dino Sabatini</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:09CEhdsMmOdtetLfiqxFlh">Mike Parker</a> followed, as well as singles on <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22CLR%22">CLR</a>, <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Dreiklang%22">Dreiklang</a>, and Lanthan Audio.

In 2016, Edit Select and Antonio Ruscito released the deep, spacy collaborative LP Visitors - Projections. The following year, Edit Select's The Bridge EP was released by <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Soma%22">Soma</a>, marking Scott's return to the label. Shortly following 2018's Horizon EP, the label released the expansive, accomplished full-length Cyclical Undulations. Several Edit Select EPs and singles followed, including 2019's The Ripple Effect (<a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Planet+Rhythm%22">Planet Rhythm</a>) and 2021's "Far North" (<a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Kontrafaktum%22">Kontrafaktum</a>).
