El Flaco Collective is a hodge podge of old American funk, blended with sounds from Senegal, Ethiopia, and elements from Cuba and the NY-salsa scene. Orchestrated by Swedish composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Andreas Unge and a bunch of talented musicians that he has handpicked especially for this project. Andreas describes the sound as a love letter to his broad career within music and musicians that have inspired him over the years, like Tony Allen's drumming, Fela Kuti, Mulatao Astake, Los Van Van, and James Brown. Everything is recorded in live takes without a metronome to get that organic and authentic quality without relying on computer quantization.
Andreas has a broad background, he has toured with artists such as Rodriguez and Robyn, performed in the celebrated timba/salsa group Calle Real, and composed soundtracks for various film projects. He has traveled and produced albums for artists from all over the world, including Brazil, Senegal, Cuba, Ethiopia, Morocco, and Sweden.
