El Jeffrey is a merengue vocalist who was a member of the group La Artillería prior to going solo in the late '90s. Born José Gabriel Severino on April 1, 1974, in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, he made his full-length album debut with Jeffrey Para el Mundo (1998) on EMI. The following decade he released a couple albums on Sony, Mi Tierra (2003) and Mi Vida (2005), and garnered some acclaim. A half-decade later, he had some success with the single "Loco de Amor" and the album Yo Soy Merengue (2011) on the independent label Sánchez Family Entertainment. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
