Chilean experimental Latin rock band El Klan was formed in the late '90s by two friends, reunited by their passion for hip-hop, known by their nicknames of Arzurdo and Xtremo. They were soon joined by a female singer, turntables player DJ Caso, and instrumentalist Multihombre. In 1999, El Klan participated in a compilation promoted by a local digital audio website. The group performed at Viña del Mar's Hip Hop Festival, while its song "Corrupto" started to be broadcast by pop/rock radio stations.
