Apart from a 2-year hiatus during her PhD training in psychology, Emilie Lin performed actively from the time she moved to the United States from Taiwan at age 14 until she started a family. She maintains her performance skills through performing annually at her studio recital, occasionally at University of Michigan and at PianoTexas International Festival & Academy (2007 & 2019).
While Emilie is classically trained and enjoys performing classical music the most, she listens to a variety of genres. Since 2020, Emilie has composed beyond educational piano music published by The FJH Music Company, expanded her artistic expressions with instrumental and accessible piano music in the genres of contemporary classical/new age, jazz fusion, and EDM. Some of her contemporary influencers in her compositions are Ennio Morricone, John Barry, David Foster, David Brubeck, George Shearing, Enya, Jef Martens, Ludovico Einaudi, Thomas Bergersen, Alexis Ffrench, Yiruma, and Joseph Koo Kar-Fai.
