Emily makes experimental vocal music, on the intersection of neofolk, ethereal, electronic, and classical. Her works are inspired by nature, politics, and the human condition. A composer, singer, improviser, conductor, and poet, she creates chamber works, installation pieces, and electronic music. Using a mixture of live, processed sound, and fixed media, she collaborates with sound artists, visual artists, and choreographers. She earned her MFA in electronic music and recording media from Mills College in January, 2020.
She has studied and performed in New York, Italy, Massachusetts, Oakland, and the Texas Hill Country. Emily founded Thistledown Productions in 2017, and now makes music and gives voice and composition lessons in her home studio in Berlin.
She likes science fiction/fantasy novels, gardening, and baking.
