Emily Judson was raised on a beautiful farm in rural Kansas. A combination of prairie living, travel, and community volunteering has influenced her songwriting approach to be advocacy driven.
In 2023, Emily wrote and produced an alternative folk album, Riverside, inspired by the beauty and stories of living along the river in the heart of Wichita, Kansas. The project was recorded in the neighborhood partnering with Riverside musicians. All proceeds are being donated back to the neighborhood public schools and nonprofits. KMUW, NPR for Wichita, Strange Currency’s Jedd Beaudoin ranked Riverside in the top ten best local/regional albums for 2023.
2024 has proven to be an exciting year! Emily was awarded "Rising Star" at the 2024 International Singer-Songwriters Association Awards in Atlanta, Georgia. Emily's song, "Stay in Riverside" was awarded Best Alternative Song by the World Songwriting Awards and was the winner of the 2024 Kansas Soundscapes Songwriting Contest. To add to the excitement, her other song "Daughter" was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and a finalist in the Social Causes category.
When Emily is not writing music or spending time with her family, you will likely find her at the community garden she helps run, happily covered in dirt and surrounded by butterflies, while working to reduce food insecurity in her city.
