Bondeville studied with the organist of the Rouen Cathedral and later at the Paris Conservatoire where his friendship with Dupré was particularly fruitful, as Bondeville showed all of his scores to Dupré before submitting them for publication. He was the director for the radio station at the Eiffel Tower and the music director of the RTF. He served as director of the Paris Opéra from 1952-70. His works include operas for the Opéra Comique (=Madame Bovary,= 1951), as well as piano works and symphonic poems.
