Epperley
Power-pop hooks. Alt-rock charm. Tulsa heart.
Epperley emerged from Tulsa in the mid-’90s with a sound that blended crunchy guitars, killer melodies, and enough pop smarts to make your favorite ‘90s mixtape jealous. Signed to Triple X Records (home of Jane’s Addiction), the band dropped their self-titled debut in 1996 — and quickly became a cult favorite in the alt-rock underground.
🎬 Heard us before? You probably have.
• “Shy” was featured in Buffy the Vampire Slayer
• “You’re So 1988” soundtracked a key scene in The Tao of Steve
• “Nice Guy Eddie” landed on the American Pie 2 soundtrack
• Other placements included HBO’s Normal and more
Their second LP, Sophomore Slump (1999), sharpened their songwriting and showcased a band hitting its creative stride. Around that time, Epperley also released the lo-fi cult holiday classic It’s a Wonderful Album — a warm, weird, and undeniably catchy Christmas record that fans still break out every December.
The band toured regionally throughout the late '90s and into the early 2000s, leaving a trail of ringing ears and power-pop converts across the Midwest and West Coast. In 2024, Epperley reunited for the first time in 25 years with a sold-out Tulsa homecoming, reminding everyone just how timeless those songs really are.
Reissues and rarities may be on the horizon. Until then, hit play and rediscover one of alt-rock’s best-kept secrets.
