Etxegiña is a basque word meaning "house builder" that could also be understood as "home made". Now evolving as an acoustic trio, the band released their debut instrumental EP entitled "El Olivo y el Olvido" through True Cult Records on November 2022. Etxegiña's music is a blend of traditional folk music and modern jazz. The band's newest single, "Fiestas de Pueblo" is an homage to all the small Spanish villages that are empty most of the year and suddenly blossom into laughter and song in the summer.
The band's aim is to explore new ways of making folk music by incorporating complex rhythms and odd-time signatures as well as jazz & spanish influences. Specifically Basque traditional songs and revolutionnary tunes of the 1930's.
Etxegiña was originally formed as a Black Metal band thematically centered around the Spanish Civil War & the libertarian movement with the release of "Herederos del Silencio".
