Evok

Evok was born out of a musical collaboration between songwriter and production duo Vinzenz Benjamin (UK/A) and Ella Jean (UK/CAN).

In the pot we have a good base of Soul, Jazz and Pop spiced with a dash of 80s, gently stirred into the 21st century with the incredible vocals of Ella Jean and the driving bass lines of Vinzenz Benjamin. That’s the melange that creates Evok.

Austrian born bass player, producer and composer Vinzenz Benjamin, first met Canadian born vocalist Ella Jean, when they shared the stage doing gigs around the London club scene. At the start of the first 2020 lockdown they started collaborating remotely, creating a collection of refreshingly different, ear-catching original songs.

Evok combine their diverse musical backgrounds to form a unique sound, which crosses genres from soul and jazz to pop, all with a distinct retro touch. Driving bass lines, 80s synthesizers, funky guitars and closely arranged vocal harmonies build the backbone for Ella Jean’s catchy top lines. Her soulful, yet quirky vocal performances reach from passionate and powerful to clean and innocent and are guaranteed to have the listener engage with her well crafted lyrics.
