Fabian Müller (*1964) works have been performed by renowned musicians including David Zinman, Andris Nelsons, Sir Roger Norrington, Christopher Hogwood, Steven Isserlis and Dame Evelyn Glennie, and heard in major venues such as Carnegie Hall New York, Tonhalle Zürich, KKL Luzern, St. Petersburg Philharmonic and Teatro Colón.
He received commissions from festivals including Lucerne Festival, Interlaken Music Festival, Cully Classique and Vestfold Festspillene, and his music has been featured at La Chaise-Dieu, the Aspen Music Festival and the Festival Internacional de Ushuaia.
Numerous CD productions document his versatile output, recorded among others with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the Petersen Quartet.
His opera EIGER (2021/22) became one of Switzerland’s most successful recent opera premieres and was hailed as “a Swiss masterpiece”.
After cello studies with Claude Starck, Müller studied composition in Zurich and the USA, winning the Jacob Druckman Award (1996). He received major Swiss cultural prizes, including a Swiss Music Prize (2016).
In 2024 he was nominated for the OPUS Klassik as “Composer of the Year”. His 2025 album of String Quartets Nos. 2–4 with the Galatea Quartet received outstanding reviews, a Supersonic Award, and an ICMA nomination.
Müller is also active in Swiss folk music and co-edited the ten-volume Hanny Christen Collection (1991–2002).
